Survivors as well as liberators have written down their experiences and have left us most valuable historic documents. Many also agreed to be interviewed, e.g. for Steven Spielberg´s project "USC Shoah Foundation".

For a big number of survivors, talking about their experiences was extremely difficult. Nonetheless, there are very valuable reports from people who were liberated in Gunskirchen.

On May 4th, 1945 the 71st Infantry Division of the US Army liberated Gunskirchen Lager.
